About The Role

Are you a dedicated and skilled educator with expertise in Design and Technology?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Curriculum Leader - Design and Technology to join our team at The Portsmouth Academy from September 2025.

As Curriculum Leader, you will lead and develop the Design Technology department ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across Key Stage 3 & 4. You will be instrumental in designing a curriculum that is inclusive, inspiring and prepares students for the future of design and technology.

Our department is well-equipped with two workshops and supported by experienced technicians enabling hands-on practical learning and innovation at every level.

Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Design Technology curriculum
Deliver outstanding teaching that engages and motivates students
Support and develop a team of teachers and technicians
Monitor student progress and implement strategies for improvement
Champion creativity, sustainability and innovation across the department

About you:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong track record in Design Technology
Proven leadership ability or the potential to lead and inspire a team
Up-to-date knowledge of the national curriculum and technological advancements
Passionate about developing students' practical and creative skills

The academy has launched a one:one device policy, so every child in Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 has their own laptop, and we are particular interested in finding teachers who have experience of, or would like to develop experience of, teaching with technology.
