About The Role

Are you ready to take the next step in your leadership journey and play a pivotal role in driving school improvement?

The Portsmouth Academy is seeking to appoint a dedicated and inspirational leader to join our Senior Leadership Team as Assistant Principal on a fixed term basis. This is a key role within the school offering the opportunity to contribute strategically to whole-school improvement and help ensure the very best outcomes for our Students. For the right candidate, this fixed‑term position has the potential to lead to a permanent role.

As Assistant Principal, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the direction of the school, supporting high-quality teaching and learning and promoting a culture of high expectations, inclusion and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Contribute to the strategic leadership and development of the school
  • Support the implementation and evaluation of the school improvement plan
  • Promote high standards of teaching, learning and student achievement 
  • Lead on key whole-school priorities
  • Use data effectively to drive improvement and monitor impact 

About You:

We are looking for a strong leader with:
  • A track record of impact in teaching and learning
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
  • High expectations for staff and students and the ability to inspire others
  • The ability to work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team to uphold the highest standards of academic achievement, student behaviour and conduct
  • QTS status and recent experience of working within a Secondary setting and leadership team
This role is fixed term until 31/08/2026 with the potential to lead to a permanent role for the right candidate.
