About The Role

The Portsmouth Academy is seeking to appoint a part time Teacher of Art and Design to join our team of committed professionals on a fixed term basis. The successful candidate will be a motivated and enthusiastic teacher who will inspire and nurture students' creativity, foster their artistic skills, and contribute to a vibrant arts community within the school.

Art and Design is a dynamic and forward-thinking department supported by a HLTA and is located in bright purpose-built rooms in the Aspire building. 
 
The Portsmouth Academy embarked on an exciting journey and have been recently been awarded the prestigious Artsmark Award. Artsmark is the only creative quality standard for schools, accredited by Arts Council England. It supports schools to develop and celebrate arts and cultural education across the whole curriculum, bringing learning to life for children and young people.
 

*Part time 0.6 FTE,19.5 hours a week, 1 Year Fixed Term contract starting September 2024*

  • Be a qualified Teacher of  Art and Design and able to deliver to KS3 & KS4 
  • Be passionate about teaching and learning and transforming the life chances of our students
  • Good or Outstanding classroom practice with high expectations for achievements and behaviour
  • Be able to plan and deliver a creative and stimulating curriculum
  • High expectations for yourself and the students to ensure that all achieve their very best
  • An aspiring leader of learning and happy to grasp exciting CPD opportunities
  • Contribute to the values, ethos and the development of our schools

The academy has launched a one:one device policy, so every child in Year 7 and Year 8 has their own laptop, and we are particular interested in finding teachers who have experience of, or would like to develop experience of, teaching with technology.
